Mondongo’s is a typical Colombian cuisine chain in Medellin specializing in Mondongo, which is a soup of cow stomach lining and potatoes (but don’t let that scare you). It is usually served with a lot of sides, which you throw into the soup.

While the soup is their specialty, they have a varied menu with a lot of other things as well, all typically Colombian. This is a place Colombians love. So if you’re looking for a quick place to sample typical Paisa food this is a good quality option, even if it’s not the most authentic setting like a country house would be.

It’s modern, and urban, but definitely Colombian. The portions are huge so don’t hesitate to order a half portion.

First opening in 1976, their idea was to open the doors to a nice little restaurant on Avenida San Juan, in Laureles. The creators of this great idea had in mind a cozy restaurant specially directed at families, centered around a paisa dish: Mondongo.

The constant demand of its customers, the dynamics of its directors, the attitude of good service and ongoing training of their employees, elevated Mondongo’s in a short time to one of the most renowned restaurants in town.

During their career, Mondongo’s Restaurant has shown an overall growth based on improving their processes and personnel. Today there are two locations, the original in Laureles and on off Calle 10 in Poblado.

Mondongo’s is a unique restaurant, aimed particularly at the typical gastronomy of Antioquia, a place where tradition and culture delight for taste and attention.
